Invisalign Treatment Completed? | 8 THINGS HAPPEN NOW

What Happens After Invisalign Treatment Completed? Invisalign is one of the most common orthodontic treatments as it eliminates the need for bulky, metal braces while still performing the same role. There is still a big question among patients, however, wondering if they want to get them or not, what happens if they come off? In this post, we’ll show you exactly what you need to do after finishing your Invisalign treatment.

How Can I Tell When My Invisalign Treatment Completed?

  • Unfortunately, many patients make the assumption they can stop wearing their aligners once their teeth look straighter. Yet keeping your aligners in until your orthodontist tells you otherwise is crucial to your treatment. Because slight misalignments may still need to be straightened, taking your aligners out earlier than you should cause your teeth not to be completely corrected.

  • Furthermore, if you stop too early wearing your aligners, your teeth could shift back out of alignment. But, Invisalign easily straightens your teeth, so before you know it, your treatment will stop.

How Are Aligners Removed After Treatment?

  • Invisalign aligners aren’t like regular metal braces, where you need a lengthy, often uncomfortable rendezvous to get your brackets and archwires out. Having the aligners out in a matter of minutes is as easy as installing them.

  • Keep in mind, however, that your teeth may have tiny resin blobs on them, which have been used to bear your aligners close to your teeth. Your orthodontist will easily smooth the surface of your teeth and hammer any globs away. The whole removal rendezvous can take less than 20 minutes and is completely painless.

What Should My Teeth Look Like After Invisalign Treatment Completed?

  • Generally speaking, your teeth should look straight after your aligners have been removed. There should be minimal gaps and no crowding between your teeth. Until surgery, if you found any crooked or bent teeth you should only see straight teeth when smiling. Plus, you’ll also find that stuff will be much easier to chew and crack.

Will I Have to Wear a Retainer After my Treatment?

  • Upon therapy, most people dislike the idea of metal retainers. They chose to wear transparent aligners in the first place than metal braces, after all. And wearing retainers after your treatment is incredibly important. This will make sure your teeth are not heading back to their old position.

  • Wearing a retainer will also guarantee that your jaw, while it is soft now, has enough time to keep your teeth in their new position while it is being rehardened. Luckily, if you’re not really into metal retainers, there are some simple retainer choices to choose from.

How Long Do I Have to Wear a Retainer?

  • Once your aligners are removed, you will need to wear your retainers for at least 22 hours per day, or as your orthodontist recommends. We would usually suggest you wear your retainers for up to six months after your treatment has ended. Once this time is over, you’ll just have to wear your retainer for another six months at night.

  • However, in order to prevent your teeth from shifting back into place, it’s suggested that you wear your retainers a few times a night every week.
