Los Vaqueros Reservoir

 California 94551

It is a beautiful place to come and relax.  It's quiet and even though we came for the fishing we got skunked but enjoyed the scenery. The only negative is that you still have to pay just to fish, but even that is a small price to pay for such an unforgettable time. It is still very serene and beautiful. It was nice to see a lot of people were fishing here. We came just for few hours and did the boat ride and it is still an experience we won't forget.

This is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Nature. Excellent striper and catfish fishing from the bank and a boat. The only boats you can use are the ones they provide. Beautiful views with lots of curvy roads for nice relaxing drives. The view was unbelievable, especially around sunset, it took everyone's breath away. Another highlight was definitely the windmills and will be returning to see those.

It is such a beautiful place. It is truly perfect for hiking and an amazing spot to have a picnic with either a loved one or even the whole family, especially combined with the views, it creates quite a romantic scene. On top of that is it only six dollars for a vehicle entrance.

Many people come to Los Vaqueros from the Vasco Road entrance - for people who are looking to enjoy the scenery and stretch their legs it may be a better choice to come in from the other end. It is suggested to visit the John Muir Interpretive Center to learn about the local history and ecology before you hop on the Vista Grande trail which takes you straight to the top of a ridge line with scenic views in every direction. It's a steep vertical climb but the payoff is really terrific. Bring water no matter what time of year but this trail is best in the winter and spring when the temps are cool and the scenery is green.
